Demoralizing Roar
The druid roars, lowering the attack power of all enemies in the area for 30 seconds. DR is great to lower the damage you are taking, and to build agro.
Maul
Maul causes your next attack to do extra damage. It’s not that great of a use of Rage, but throw it in every now and then when you have rage to spare and want to build agro with higher damage.
Growl
Growl forces all enemies close enough to attack you. It’s a great tool to get mobs off your healers in a group. Growl has no use in PVP, unless you want to pull a Hunter’s pet off of someone. Use it every ten seconds.
Enrage
Enrage sacrifices armor to automatically generate Rage. It’s a ‘go-to’ ability when tanking trash mobs and you are low on rage. Don’t use it on a boss!
Bash
Bash stuns a mob. This is a great ability for PVP, soloing, and groups. In PVP you can stun the Rogue or Warrior on you to give you time to heal or escape. In groups you can bash a mob that slipped away from your tanking. In soloing you can take on three or more mobs, and bash one of them to keep your damage down.
Swipe
Swipe instantly attacks up to three enemies at once and deals minor damage to all of them. Swipe is the bear’s AOE attack when tanking multiple mobs. It’s great for soloing and groups, in PVP Swipe doesn’t do enough damage.
Challenging Roar
Challenging Roar uses Rage to instantly force all nearby enemies to focus their attacks on the Bear for the next 6 seconds. This has no use other than tanking. It’s a great tanking tool, but being on such a long cooldown (ten minutes) means you have to save it for when you’re about to lose all control.
Frenzied Regeneration
This turns rage into healing. It has lots of uses. Running out of rage is bad, but death is worse. So use FR when you’re being beat on, and are near death. This works in PVP, groups, and soloing. This is the bear’s primary ‘oh crap’ button.
Lacerate
You have to get to level 66 to get this great tanking tool. Lacerate allows the Bear to stack a bleed effect on the target up to 5 times. The effect lasts 15 seconds, and each application causes a large amount of threat.
When tanking multiple mobs, spread it around on two or three of them and Swipe away.
